Thanks for your quick reply, I am looking for the death of John Morton, Husband of Janet Anderson (they married 16 Feb 1813 Dunlop, Ayr). In the 1841 census for Clarkston Village I have Janet Morton and in the 1851 census for Cathcart/New Cathcart she is listed as Janet Wright. So I am presuming that John either died pre 1841 census (not listed with family, but maybe away from home) or that he died between 41/51. I have looked for a remarriage of Janet to a Mr Wright but so far no luck.

According to the IGI a Janet Anderson married Allan Wright in October 1834. They had a daughter Helen in 1835 who, as you can see is living with Janet on the 1841 census.
What is confusing is why does Janet still call herself Morton in 1841?

Hello again Margaret,

I had a look at the birth entry of Helen McKechnie Wright today hoping that Janet's first marriage would be mentioned but no. I also looked at the marriage entry of Allan Wright and Janet Anderson again no mention of marriage to John Morton.
I had a look for John Morton's death and found one on 13th May 1833.
The entry said he was a Smith from Mossneuk age 45. Whether this is your John Morton or not is anybody's guess.

Once again thanks for your help, now for Janet being Morton in 1841 census, Jack (who has been a great help from TS) came up with the idea that maybe William still called his Mum "Morton", we can only guess. Maybe that John Morton is mine, once again who knows for sure, Janet's son John age 25 in 1851 census is my GGGrandfather and I know I am correct back to that point. Oh well I will keep looking and looking the puzzle pieces are slowly falling into place, with great help from TS and Scotlands people where it makes getting certificates so easy for us Aussies.
