Good morning to all,
Just received a message regarding the birth record I was sent last year of my gg grandmother in Maternity Hospital, Edinburgh 1853. I now find there is a part in which contains further information, "Indoor Casebook" (LHB3/16/1) and understand this type of record to be held by S.P. being they would be the main soure of birth records for that period.
I have the record regarding the parents of the child and the mother's parents, but if there is more I would be most interested to see if it holds further informtion enabling me find who the mother's parents were and where they came from.
Would anyone know where in S.P. these records would now be?

It's unlikely to be SP as in ScotlandsPeople, but it could be GROS or National Archives of Scotland ........... If it's a hospital record then it would be in the area now covered by Lothian Health Board, which fits with the record reference, but I'm not sure who holds those records, LHB or an archive somewhere.

I've had a quick look at the NAS index. The only LHB categories there are to do with the Lesmahagow branch railways. My feeling is it will be in the Lothian Health Board Archives, wherever they are held (at the former Deaconness Hospital, The Pleasance, Edinburgh? - I will see what I can find).
All the best,

Thank you David and Andrew,
It was indeed Lothians Health Services from whom I received this answer to my querie. This lady is standing in for the person of whom I dealt with last year. Although she had all the paperwork back and forth and she came up to that conclusion. Too bad, I thought there may have been something I missed.
Just one other thing, if someone all their life is asked where they were born and they say Kintail, might they state Dingwall as the residence of both her and her deceased parents on a Hospital Record?
I do not get this.
