Hi folks, i'm lookingfor the death of Matthew McMurchy born I think between 1810 -1820. His wife Catherine Mclean was born 1816 in Campbeltown Argyll so i'm presuming he's around the same date. I can't finnd his birth or his death. His wife Catherine died 1880 in Campbeltown and he was still alive at her death.

Is it your Matthew and Catherine in Queen St on the 1841 census with children Margaret and Jean ?

Jumping ahead...........
On the 1881 census there are a Jane, Matthew and Archibold (brothers and sister) at 12 Queen Street Campbeltown, Argyll.
Are these Matthew and Catherine's children and if so were they living with their parents (till thier /her Catherines death), is this the address on Catherines death cert ?
As i cant find Matthew snr on the census (but someone else quite possibly will !) it looks like he could possibly have died between his wife dying and the 1881 census being taken.

There is this death
1886 MCMURCHY MATTHEW M 0 CAMPBELTOWN /ARGYLL 507/00 0080
not sure if the age is unrecorded or he is an infant ............

McLEAN, Catherine, d.1880, 65yrs.
McMURCHY, Matthew, d.1881, 66yrs.

As well as a
McMURCHY, Janet, erected, 1854 228

May just be coincidence……………………….
