So we are now at:

  • 1881 Marriages in the District of St Andrew in the Burgh of Dundee

1881 on the Twentieth day of May at 13 Alexander Street, Dundee
After publication according to the forms of the Established Church of Scotland
(signed) Isaac Hovell, Bachelor, Brass Finisher (Jour.), Bachelor, 21, 53 William Street, Dundee
(signed) Annie Donald, Powerloom Winder, Spinster, 20, 17 Wolseley Street, Dundee
Thomas Hovell, Mill Manager, Caroline Hovell, M.S. Johnston
David Donald, Lathsplitter (Jour.), Margaret Donald, M.S. Paton, Dec.
(signed) David J Robertson, Minister of Clepington Church
(signed) Maria Annie Hovell, witness, David Donald, witness
1881, May 23rd at Dundee, J MacDonald, Registrar

Apart from the info submitted above, I have added what I think is the registrar's name (mostly from his signature at the foot ofthe page).

All the best,

AndrewP

Hello Momat,

I think you will find that Annie Donald's, mothers maiden name was Peter.

Margaret Peter, married David Donald, 22/July/1859. Arbroath, Angus.
The couple only had two children Ann Donald, born 27/April/1862. Dundee, Angus, and David Donald, born 14/Aug/1866. Dundee, Angus.

The family are living at the address given Wosleley Street, in 1881. the mother Margaret, is still alive at this point.

Regards,
Jonn.

Hello Momat,

Andrew, was correct stating Margaret Donald, was deceased, she died sometime after the census and before the Marriage, 1881. Dundee City, aged 39 years. although on the census she was stated as being 42 years.

Regards,
Jonn.
