Hello all,
What do you make out as the last name of the daughter (informant) on Isabella Giles' death cert (last one on page)? I thought I could read it, but then can't find a person by that name anywhere, so am hoping that I have simply mis-read her name and you can set me right...

Thanks for looking,
Sarah

Thanks, Andrew! I think you got it. I find Elisabeth in 1861 in Strichen, married to Charles Dalziel. The only problem is, I can't make her Isabella's daughter... It appears to be Elisabeth Duncan who marries Charles Dalziel on 12 Dec 1850 in Strichen, but I can't find such a person with a mother Isabel Giles.
k
Strichen at that time seems to have been full of illegitimate children, sometimes recorded under the mother's name and sometimes the father's. Isabella never married, so the birth should have her listed as Isabella Giles.
At least half of the puzzle is solved-- thanks!

Hello Frazer and Welcome to
It's always nice when a new member recognizes someone in an old post! My own interest is in the Giles family-- are your Dalziels in Strichen the ones who are connected to the Giles? I'm always interested in further information, since one never knows what little detail will suddenly clarify a long-standing question.
All the best,
Sarah
