James Ross & Emily Dickson Swindells/Swandell.

Is there anybody going to GROS in Edinburgh who could take a few minutes to check whether and if so how many the above couple had?
Likely Govan Lanark & Lanark area.
Possible names for offspring-going on naming patterns would be-George,David,Catherine,Robina,Anthony(for James sibling who died as a toddler).
There are just so many Ross's & after the on-line date I would be a fortune in certificates.
I would be so grateful as it would help solve some more puzzles on these blooming Ross's!
I still want to know why they had nothing to do with my Great-Grandpa yet the other two sibs kept in touch with each other( marriages & death witnesses).
Thanks in anticipation(where's the fingers crossed Emoticon?).

Hi Joette,

What range of years do you expect to find these people in?

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Joette
With surname Ross that could be a real time consumer until the 1920s (can't remember exact yer - 1923?) when the mother's surname is given in the lists. Without that, and without exact first names, it would mean looking at the entry for every Ross with a birth in the area to check the mother's name - I've done this job with a very common surname and it took me several trips to GROS to round up the children.

Best wishes
Lesley

Bother I was forgetting that you couldn't check under both.Still I can do it in Glasgow when I get the chance.I'd forgotten that option now that Edinburgh is not one of my "featured stops" when visiting Scotland.
