Born in Scotland - Died in Malta

Hello,

I would appreciate some help from the experts on here.
I am trying to find a birth entry for a merchant seaman who, according to his grave, was born in Scotland and died in Malta.

This is what it says on his memorial: "Raymond Banner born in Scotland 26.2.1917 died 28.9.1942 remembered by his twin brother <name edited as may still be alive. LesleyB>." I believe he was born in Elgin and last place of abode was Methil.

Raymond was a merchant seaman who was on the ss OHIO, Malta convoy.

I have searched Scotland's People births but cannot find him. Any ideas gratefuly received.

Try surname spelt Banna

You'll find both brothers listed under that surname for 1917, Hugh, both born in Elie, Fife.
