I'd go with McCowan. One of my ggs was sometimes a labourer & sometimes a road surfaceman so the occupation isn't a problem.

Well there isn't really a convincing argument against taking this one on.
The clincher for me is that this Agnes and her father and mother Robert Easdon and Agnes McCouat (var.) were living in Inchinnan for some time, and especially in 1841. My well-proven ggg grandfather William Easdon is the son of Robert Easdon and Agnes McCouat (var.) and was married in Inchinnan in 1840 and he and his bride Christina Clark were 'of the parish'.
It all seems obvious when I write that doesn't it? But because I had been given other names back when I was very new at this, I did not investigate it well enough.....lesson learned, and not too much terrible damage done! And as I said in another post at this site recently, it was still a lot of fun finding them that don't belong to me anyway!
Now who is searching for descendants of John Airston and Mary Adam from Renfrewshire???? Do I have a tree for YOU!
